It was a very pleasant experience. Mark Herwitz was friendly and knowledgeable about the car we purchased. I haven’t bought from a dealer since 1984 but in the future I will check with Mark before anywhere else.
Craig, you and your family were an absolute pleasure to work with. I only wish that the next 1800 customers that I wait on are just as nice. Sometimes you meet people where there seems to be an automatic connection; this was one of those times. You made my job enjoyable.

Finish your remodeling; your parking situation is atrocious.
Jennifer, first off thank you very much for your purchase of the Chevy Cruze. We know you are going to love this car. Our remodeling is going along as fast as possible; in fact with the good weather, things are progressing better than expected. The loss of 50 parking spaces has definitely impacted our parking. We assure you this is temporary and when our re-build is finished everyone will be “wowed” by our new facility. The current building dates back to the late 1960′s and we have outgrown the current building layout. When finished we will be able to offer a new car delivery experience like no other, with you actually taking delivery on our showroom floor and being able to say you “drove your car off the showroom floor”. Our service waiting area is being expanded to almost 5 times the space we previously had. It will include a coffee bar, 2 televisions in the adult area and one in the children’s area. We are also investigating having an area for gaming and of course wireless internet access. We are very excited about these improvements our customers will enjoy. When you return in the future you will experience a showcase for customer experience.

James Duckworth, after one visit and at least four phone calls to him PLUS his checking with management, agreed to an exact price – we did a 60+ mile round trip to finalize the deal and buy the car at that price.
He presented us with a sales contract for the agreed-upon amount PLUS an administration fee of US$49 – that fee was never disclosed to us – NEVER mentioned!
We told them they could either take it out, give us something extra like an oil change, or they could adjust the price of the car to incorporate the US$49 fee – they told us repeatedly the fee was NOT negotiable and would not change the price of the car…
Their practice of not disclosing the fee is simply fraud, no matter who you are, or what definition you lean towards…Duckworth had MANY opportunities to tell us prior to our making a second trip to the dealership BASED on our having reached an agreement on a FIXED price!
Too, at the beginning of the sales process he told us the car had been taken in on trade – when he gave us the keys to look at the car, the key tag disclosed it had been acquired at auction…he then backtracked and said, yes, they had bought the car at auction.
There were several other instances of mis-direction uttered by Duckworth…
I really don’t think Weber will post this, but if you have a chance to review THIS experience, you might find a way to make a visit there more enjoyable…
Neither we, nor any of our MANY friends will make any further purchases from a dealership that not only fosters, but evidently actually encourages, FRAUD!!!
I am Tony Ziegler, the General Sales Manager, thank you for your review. Yes, we do post everything, the good and the bad. We realize we are not perfect and when given a review such as this it does allow us to look over our process and re-evaluate the way we do business. The $49 dollar admin fee is non-negotionable. It is against the law to charge one customer and not another this fee. Many dealers charge fees up to over $750. With ours at $49 we feel this is more than a fair price. There is a place in a deal that we have to “close the door”, in other words, there was no money left to reduce your price any further. In your case we reached this point. We apologize that we ended up $49 dollars apart.
We did not end up US$49 apart – we ended up leaving because Duckworth had had MANY opportunities to tell us about the fee – all he would have had to do was tell us it was part of the deal when he and Pat were discussing it before we drove over there – US$49 is nothing to us – we simply walked away from his deception. Again, he directly lied to us about the origin of the car – and I caught him at it – NOT telling us about the fee was simply the last straw…he tried to lie to us, and tried to ambush us – neither was necessary – we wanted the car!
Again, all I can do is apologize for us not being able to get together.

What an incredible buying experience! This is the sixth car I’ve purchased over the years, but the first one from Weber Chevrolet. It was by far the most enjoyable experience I’ve had in buying a car. My salesman, Mike Pryor could not have been more helpful in answering my questions and making sure the process went smoothly. He made sure to keep me updated on the wait in finance. Once in finance, it was a quick and thorough process. Through the whole experience, they made me feel like a person and not a number. I was at Weber Chevy on Black Friday and I think that the sales people did a great job serving everyone that was there. A lot of people were there. It was a long process to get through but im happy in the end with my new car. I believe everything was really organized and went smoothly. Just a lot of people, and worth the wait. I didnt mind waiting. I came back for fiancing the next day and it took a little longer than expected. Great people in the fiance department. It was a nice gesture that Weber brought in McDonalds for all the customers. My sales man was David Matthews and he was friendly and a great over person. The dealership did all they could do to service us on such a heavy volume day on Black Friday. More finance people would have helped but it was understandable since it was such a busy day.

He made the Black Friday Sales Event especially pleasant, continually checking up on us as we waited to get all of the paperwork Processed. The Black Friday Sale had a LARGE turnout, but the staff did whatever they could, from getting Doughnuts, Sandwiches, whatever, to make the waiting a more pleasant experience, and I want to wish them ALL a HUGE THANK YOU for struggling with the abundance of people who turned out for this event. I am hoping that it was as successful as it appeared to be, with a line of new cars stretched around the service department, waiting for their final prep before being driven off by their new owners. George Weber and his wife stopped by, and personally saw him jump right in, trying to assist one person, who was saying that they had to leave to go to work, to try to get everything expedited for them so that they could leave in their new car, and his wife strolled among the crowd, talking with the waiting customers, and seeing if there was ANYTHING that she could do to make the waiting a better experience for the customers. I found the whole staff to be very pleasant and professional in their attention to detail, and respect for any and all their customers wishes. I hope that the event becomes an annual event, and that I can have the opportunity to participate again….

It didn’t begin well. I stood on the drive looking at cars for quite some time before I actually went inside and asked for help. I was directed to James Duckworth, who was without question the best car salesman I have ever come across (and I’m old). We were window shopping for a car for our 18 year old daughter who attends SIUE. We pulled into Weber Chevrolet and Jim Mager approached us to see if he could be of assistance. He wasn’t pushy, just informative when he needed to be. He showed us the various features of the Cruz and let my daughter take a test drive. Jim Mager was very helpful making sure that we would be confident our daughter would be safe in the Cruz. The 5 year roadside assistance plan that Weber Chevrolet offers was also a major selling point. Jim was very sensitive to the fact that our daughter was only 18 and related well to my husband and myself as well as my daughter. We will continue to do our future business with him even if we live 120 miles away in Springfield, IL. I want to thank Jim and everyone at Weber Chevrolet for making this purchase a painless experience.

Monday 05/09/2011 I showed up at Weber Chevrolet. I was greeted immediatly by the sales staff. I had an appointment with Dave Matthews and i was early. Dave was busy with another client so he called Debbie Kidwell. Debbie took me in her office and we started talking about what type of car I was looking for. Before I knew I was test driving a 2011 Cruze. It turned out to be my dream car. Everyone at Weber Chevrolet were just wonderfull and so helpfull. If I ever buy another car I will go to Weber. I’m a first-time buyer with Weber. My intent was to finance a used car but Debbie Kidwell showed me how a new car made more sense. On January 29, 2011, my husband and I came in Weber Chevrolet after a terrible experience with another Chevrolet Dealer. At Don Brown we waited approximately 30 minutes for a salesman. When the receptionist finally found one, the salesman came up, and stated, You are Really at a Disadvantage Working With Me.
We headed for Weber Chevrolet. (The only reason we went to the other dealer is they have an employee deal with Laclede Gas)
Needless to say, we turned and walked out. I told the salesman thats fine we will go to Weber Chevrolet. Bye.
We went directly to Weber. Mike was already with a customer, but acknowledged us immediately. (I guess he did not get his training at Don Brown).
We test drove an 2011 Equinox, loved it and ordered my beautiful Twilight Blue new SUV. I picked her up yesterday and drove her to work today. I love her already.
Steven Weiss, Finance Director completed the paperwork and closed the deal. He did a great job too. He also was no pressure and found us a better deal using our GM MasterCard points than the Laclede employee discount.
We will be back to Weber for our next Chevrolet and will be asking for Mike Pryor.

I’M LOOKING FOR A GOOD CAR UNDER ( $2,000.00 ). with less milage mostly a chevy.
Rebecca, thank you for your post. Most cars we get in at this price are wholesaled. Our experience has shown that many times these $2000 cars can turn into an additional $2000 repair. So this price vehicle must be looked at closely to determine if it may be needing major repairs in the near future. I have added your request to our “watch list”. Should we get something like this in that we feel may be of value to you we will get in contact with you.
I had seen the Weber Chevrolet ad in the newspaper many times and, honestly, I figured I would just get the same old song and dance “If your credit was good we could help but the way it is we will need your first born and every dime you make the rest of your life”. But, when I saw your ad in the paper a couple of weeks ago something just nagged at me to call Debbie Kidwell as the ad said.
What a real PLEASURE it was talking to Debbie. She listened to me about what I knew I could do and took time to explain to me what my options might be. No one ever did it that way before. Then Debbie asked me to submit an application and she would be able to give me a better picture of what could be done.
When Debbie called me back and told me she could help get me out of the truck and into 2010 Cobalt, AND, had gotten me a lot better interest rate then what I had before I was shell shocked. There was a part of me just waiting for that horrible BUT…. It never came… Everything was just as she said it would be with no surprises. I know I called her many times relaying my wife’s and my concerns and Debbie not only answered all of our questions but made me feel like I was a valued customer and a friend that she was determined to help.
Then Debbie did something that just literally put my wife and me in tears. She explained to us how we could also get a car for my wife. Now I can’t justify in words what this meant to my wife to be able to buy her first ever brand new car. For my wife it really is a major part of that American dream come true, and for me… well Debbie helping me to make that come true for my wife’s the “Ultimate Car Buying Experience”.
My wife got to pick out the Aveo she liked. She is so thrilled with her car and it is perfect for her. The Cobalt is wonderful and I love it.
